How to create a jar with external libraries included in eclipseDec 17, 2010 · I just pulled the manifold from an EJ25D (your engine), and the knock sensor connector is a single wire unit. For whatever reason they switched the connector in like '97 to a 2-wire plug with one of the wire holes plugged off with a rubber plug on the sensor side . So even though it has a 2-wire connector - it's still a one-wire sensor. The knock sensor isn’t that critical if you use the recommended fuel. My guess is your knock sensor is actually functioning. Why it is sending codes is a mystery but I don’t see it as a big deal and not worth spending $500 to $600 dollars on. You may change out the sensor and still get the codes.
The knock sensor probably creates voltage though pizo electric. The wire from the knock sensor (UNPLUGGED ONLY), to the pin on the ecu harness.. (UNPLUGGED ONLY), should be 0.2-0.3ohms assuming theres no inline resistors or any type of 'added' resistance in that circuit.

  • The Z6 didn't have a knock sensor, but all other VTEC engines do. You have 2 solutions to choose from: either get a P28 and chip it with the B16 program, or salvage the knock sensor wires from the B16 harness (if it's still there) and add it to the Z6 harness.

Jun 17, 2005 · Toys4me: The Subaru has the same setup as the Toyota, so far the fix I installed works great and it probably is piston slap that has been causing my problems. My CEL did go back on last night but so far no change in how it runs. Could you actually remove the knock sensor from the engine and just wrap the sensor in some foam and leave it connected?

May 12, 2009 · The knock sensor peizo is almost open circuit figures being around 4-5Mohms Have a look at this from Pico Tech which gives some insight into how the ecu determines a knock sensor fault at start up even without the engine running by using sine wave and carrier voltage (although they don't sound too sure themselves )

  • everything i've read about how to bypass the knock sensor has left much to desire in the form of a real fix. i have read about the bypass involving the transducer, and it didn't really work all that well from what i saw. wasn't worth the hassle for me so i just converted to an obd1 ecu. cost me maybe $140 total, really wasn't a big deal, and i didn't have to ghetto-rig anything.
